let it snow, let it snow, let it snow




















Well, I certainly have a selection of photos to put on Christmas cards next year, at the very least :)

This is what graced my hometown on Friday- Snow! I got the day off school, my friend came over, and we went on a lovely walk.. for about 15 minutes. Then, we got a bit cold so went home, and pigged out on lunch, hot chocolates, biscuits, chocolates and cake. Mmm.. cake..The cake failed, by the way. We made to but both of the came out flat and dry- obviously the recipe's fault! ;)

Well, anyway, these are some of the photos I took and decided to share with you. I love the way everything looks so much more magical and serene when snow has fallen, and the fact that we hardly ever get any in England(especially where I live by the sea), and when we do it seems the whole country panics and doesn't know what to do with itself- except the kids (and kids at heart) of course- so you don't have to worry so much about traffic, and you can go wherever you want to, whenever you want to. Except if you need to use public transport because, as I mentioned, the whole country panics.

hot chocolate days

You know those days when you just can't be bothered, and just want to laze around?
You go downstairs, turn on the TV and, well, make a hot chocolate, if that's what you feel like.
mmm..
But, there always seems to come that moment when someone will ring the doorbell and you face that tough decision on whether to a) answer the door, still in your pyjamas and no make up on, or b) run upstairs, pull on the first things you can in in your wardrobe, drag and brush through your hair and quickly pile on some foundation while calling out 'One second! Just coming, hang on'
And let's face it- neither of those options is particularly appealing.

On these kinds of days I like to wear something very comfortable (no skinny jeans for me today, thank you very much!) and not too much make up, but still look halfway decent.

I would recommend leggings or tracksuit bottoms with a loose top and, if the weather calls for it, a soft, cosy jumper on top. At the moment, my favourite lounge pants would be these Amberstone leggings from Jack Wills that, although aren't part of their Loungewear collection are really soft and light, and easy to just pull on in the morning, and this cat jumper and this spotted jumper from Next are such a cute way of bringing a print and some fun into what could otherwise be a drab, boring outfit.

Makeup wise, I find putting on tinted moisturiser or BB cream the best option because it's  light and really natural, and then just use concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes I may have. If I'm just staying home, I won't bother putting eyeshadow on, and rarely put blush or bronzer on. Instead, I just add a couple of coats of mascara to my eyelashes and put some tinted lip balm such as Vaseline's Rosy Lips Lips Therapy which quenches and moisturises my lips so well while still adding a bit of colour.

All this will take less than half an hour, and then voilá! You're ready for a day of resting and relaxing, and totally prepared for any sneaky doorbell-ringers.

hogwarts is real, right?

 How amazing is that moment when, after the Christmas/ Winter holidays, you meet up with friends who have been away, and the they pull out a little souvenir for you?
What's even more amazing is when they pull out a Chocolate Frog from the Harry Potter Wizarding World theme park in Florida. Come on, who doesn't like a bit of HP? In any case, not me. I am totally, 110% in love with J.K Rowling and her books (and how gorgeous is Emma Watson?! Love her Burberry shoots) so when I opened this.. Oh my. Best not to go there, I'll get over excited again.
 Lucky me- The cards in mine were stuck together so I got two instead of one! Soon enough, I'll have a collection to rival Ron's!

 Thinking of re-using this pretty box as some kind of storage, what do you think?

I have to admit though, I was slightly disappointed. The people who made the card obviously did not do their research- the writing on the back describing what Dumbledore has achieved does not match that in the book! Tut tut tut.
On the plus side however, the chocolate was dee-lish-ous! mmm..!


So, any other Potterheads out there? Don't worry about not getting your acceptance letter yet, the toad told me they're just a bit behind on paper work ;)

do nothing for two minutes

Guys, I think I have a problem. Help!

While on my laptop in the early hours of the morning, I stumbled upon a link to a website called Do Nothing for Two Minutes. At first it was safe to say I was relatively confused. Why did 'FAIL' keep coming up every time I moved my mouse? What actually was this website?




After my first few moments of 'Ehh?!' I realised that I was supposed to just, well, do nothing for two minutes. Easy, yes? No. Fifteen seconds in I could feel my hands twitching to go back to typing queries in google, to tap on the trackpad to check out  new blog. But, the problem with being an absolute perfectionist and really quite competitive when it comes down to it, I couldn't fail this challenge. And I didn't, I sat there, laptop screen luring me in, for the full two minutes before resuming my previous activities. But it has made me worried. Have I really grown so accustomed and addicted to the internet that it physically hurt to tear myself away from it for a measly two minutes? You see, this is why I need to improve my social life.

get fit in fashion

If you have read my last post, you will know that one of my resolutions was 'to get fit', but it really is so much easier said than done. While reviewing my resolutions, I paused while looking at this particular one, and asked myself why I find it so difficult to commit to. Is it time? Tired-ness? Embarrassment and shyness at going running or to the gym by myself? Well, yes. Certainly a little bit. But then my shallow, materialistic side kicked in and I realised that, even if those other issues didn't exist and I was the most organised, least tired and confident person there ever was, I still wouldn't go. 

Why? Because I have nothing to wear. I mean, I can't exactly go in jeans, school uniform or a leotard, can I? 

Putting my online-shopping-cart-filling-but-not-actually-buying skills to good use for once, I quickly got to work and have put together an example of an outfit that I would feel great in while exercising.

 Monochrome prints have made a comeback, and after having been first seen in New York, they've been spotted on the catwalk(both on the clothes and literally on the catwalk) for brands such as Just Cavalli, Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Moschino, Alberta Ferretti and  Emporio Armani, so the black and white printed sports bra from Adidas and capri pants from Nike are just perfect, and I love the abstract pattern on them.
I decided to add the red slit top from Pineapple(on the website it actually calls it orange, but I would say it has a more reddish tone to be honest) and the red and pink trainers from Adidas to add a pop of colour so you stand out from the crowd and don't look too dull. 


I hope I've inspired you to get kitted out and hit that gym, baby!

resolutions for 2013

                                                 


One year down, another year to go
Here comes a nice list of things I wish to achieve this year, just in case you're interested

  1. Get a perfect front and straddle split
  2. Get distinction in at least one dance exam
  3. Get consistent multiple pirouettes and fouettés
  4. Learn routines faster
  5. Get above B's for all my end of KS3 tests
  6. Cut Back and Make More Money (like my 'Confessions of a Shopaholic' reference there?)
  7. Get accepted to a dance summer school in London
  8. Make more effort with friends
  9. Improve photography skills
  10. Improve photo and video editing skills
  11. Dedicate myself to Nars Obsessor
  12. Eat healthier and get fit
  13. Stay healthy- no days off school for me this year, thank you very much!
  14. Knuckle down and concentrate on schoolwork
  15. REVISE!!
  16. Get all 1's and 2's for effort in my report
  17. Organise myself better
  18. Don't let things pile up and become stressful
  19. Improve on the 4 R's: Respectfulness, Resilience, Resourcefulness and Responsibility
  20. Become a nicer person :)
I hope this list was helpful if you're still coming up with ideas for your New Years Resolutions. I hope that this year is even better than the last for all of you, and when life gets you down you'll pick yourself up, dust yourself off and carry on.
